Trains and facilitates teams of volunteers to support families transitioning out of homelessness. Teams are composed of 3-5 volunteers who provide practical, emotional, and social support for a family for one year. Service learning interns often receive academic credit for their participation on the teams.

The strength of personal relationships help to create a context in which families can become self-supporting members of our community, now and for generations to come.

Overview:
By giving about 2 hours of their time per week, each volunteer becomes part of a team which is matched to a family committed to recovery from homelessness, violence, addiction and other trauma.

As a team member, volunteers provide practical assistance such as providing tutoring and mentoring for children, helping parents enroll in school, assisting with transportation, childcare and budgeting. Volunteers model low-cost ways to spend quality family time such as picnics, game nights or other family strengthening activities.

We provide initial trainings and on-going facilitation and support through our staff of Family Support Coordinators.
