The Family Connection is a human services program that trains and supervises volunteer mentor teams to be effective personal support networks for families with children transitioning out of homelessness. The program’s intent is to have a long-term effect that reaches beyond emergency services to help break the cycle of multi-generational poverty and its consequences.

Our volunteers help their families in many ways. Working with them for a one year period for an average of two hours a week, they may help find affordable housing, provide transportation or childcare, and/or act as resources for a variety of living skills.

The practical, emotional and social support provided by the volunteers is invaluable to the long-term stability and success of the family. The caring and commitment of community members provide our clients with a level of personal support that cannot be duplicated by professional service providers.

Our ultimate goal is to help our families become self-supporting members of our community now and for generations to come.

Please join us in making a real difference in the life of a Sonoma County family.
